Vivaldi Browser - First Test Version

    Hello!

From the very first day of the Vivaldi.net website operation, users have been tormented by vague suspicions: another website resembling a social network does not make sense, obviously Vivaldi has something in mind, and most likely it will be a browser ... Well, expectations did not deceive you: we really worked all this time on creating the Vivaldi browser. Firstly, it was logical after the actual death of the good old Opera, and secondly, we still can’t do anything except browsers.

In general, hour X has arrived - meet the new Vivaldi browser.

This is the first test version that we decided to submit to users, therefore, of course, there are still a lot of bugs and shortcomings in it. But we hope that our users will not remain indifferent and will be able to help us get rid of them as quickly as possible. We will also need your help in the process of creating the browser itself - it is the opinion of Vivaldi users that will be taken into account when adding new features to the browser. However, we already have something to show.

I will not dwell on those functions that have already become familiar to browser users - such as the Express panel (although now you can create your own thematic folders on it, including sub folders) or the side panel. I think you will be able to experiment and test these functions on your own. I note only a few interesting in my opinion. For starters - Quick Commands.

This dialog box is opened by pressing F2 and offers you a quick way to work with the browser. You can search among open tabs, perform various actions in one click, navigate tabs, go to browser settings and much more. Try it yourself - you will like it.

Of course, we are also working on grouping tabs. While this function is far from perfect and will be brought to mind with your help, but at the moment it looks something like this:

There are also quite interesting features. For example - so far not having an exact translation from English “Page actions”:

Try playing around with this feature - you might like it and prove to be very useful in some cases.

The sidebar is straightforward classic. While it does not contain all the functions (due to their unavailability), but it already works and pleases the eye:

Settings is the favorite place of every self-respecting geek. While they are few, but will be much more very soon. We try to maintain good traditions and will provide users with maximum freedom in setting and personalizing the browser.

In general, we invite all of you to try the new Vivaldi browser - we make it for you.

A few words about the team. Now the company has 25 employees, of which 18 are developers. We have three offices: in Iceland, in Norway and in the USA. Below in the photo - a group of developers on the opening day of the Norwegian office.

And - yes, the browser is based on Chromium code. Firstly, to create a new engine from scratch today is almost impossible, and secondly, we decided to try to fulfill the dream of many users of the old version of Opera: take the engine from Chrome, but keep the interface and functionality the same. In my opinion, so far we have succeeded. But to judge, of course, to you.

That's all for now. Follow the news here on Habré, and also do not forget to talk about us through social networks. Below is a list of official resources:
