    Greetings habrazhitelam.

I think many of you have read my articles on the reversal of Caesar ( tyts , tyts , tyts , another and about an android ), I really like this game and the desire to run it on modern computers has prompted me to do a study and, subsequently, their implementation of programming . And although now there is an original Caesar on gog.com, and the launch problem on modern PCs was solved, I went a little further, and made a port on linux, mac, android and haiku, I plan to port it to other platforms too: so a small hobby grew into full project .

But, of course, not everything is so simple, the owners of the brand began to write. My project was and will remain non-profit and open source, but to run the remake you need the textures of the original game (i.e. you first need to buy from them), they still don’t want to agree on anything.
And now I am at a crossroads - to spit on years of work or risk to bring the idea to mind and maybe do something beautiful. And if I pull the programming myself - life isn’t sweet without design, I haven’t found any enthusiasts of a brush and a pencil.
In the end, I plan to launch a campaign on indiegogo, in which I want to raise funds to create a game in the spirit of Caesar, with new graphics, with the ability to connect old campaigns from the original game. I would like to get a community opinion - should I continue to do business? Does it make sense to start all this or to do more earthly things?

I understand that this fundamentally changes the situation, it is one thing to open up for free and quite another to collect money.

And I would also really like to get some clear advice from a lawyer about whether it is possible to use screenshots from my game at the start of the campaign, but the graphics, which are still used from the original Caesar. There is no money for the designer yet.

Thank you for your opinion and advice.
