Field kitchen for bacteria

Today we will talk about an ambitious project in the field of waste processing, a solution proposed by the team from Yekaterinburg WiseSoil.
According to statistics, the vast majority of conventional biogas plants used in Europe and the USA are dated by the state due to low efficiency. Methods for producing biogas from agricultural waste and so-called municipal waste are well known, but low effective. An original solution to increasing efficiency was proposed by young scientists from Yekaterinburg: before you “put” the garbage “on the table” to bacteria, you need to prepare it in a special way.
“A biogas plant is an imitation of the digestive system. But she does not have the necessary details - the very teeth that chew food. And this module, roughly speaking, chews all the waste that goes into the installation. The grinding process is due to powerful ultrasound, ”says project manager Alexander Smotrytsky.

The guys proposed a device for processing raw materials before being fed to a biogas plant, which led to a doubling of the biogas output from the same amount of raw materials and allowed to double the process of processing this raw material in a biogas reactor. The basis of the design is an ultrasonic hydrodynamic emitter, which allows you to create a field with a power of up to 100 W / cm2.
In the photo, a prototype device capable of processing 25 tons of raw materials per day.
Under the influence of powerful ultrasound, the cell walls of the raw materials are destroyed and nutrients become readily available for processing by microorganisms. Pay attention to how ordinary raw materials differ from processed ones.

It is noteworthy that the cost of a WiseSoil device, which allows to increase productivity by 2 times, is only 5% of the total price of a biogas plant.
The project team plans include access to the markets of Russia, Kazakhstan, Europe and the USA using the potential of larger partners and investors. Already, the project was able to declare itself loudly. The WiseSoil “regalia” list includes:
• Winner of the “Green Innovation Competition” (Finland)
• Top 10 CleanTechRussia projects (Russia)
• And, of course, as many as three main prizes in the final of the BIT 2013 competition (Generation S). As a result, WiseSoil was invited by PricewaterhouseCoopers to present the project at the investment session of the Local to Global Expo event in Luxembourg.

UPD This is what the newly assembled pre-industrial biomass preparation device looks like. Testing of the device is being prepared at biogas plants with a capacity of up to 30 tons per day.

We sincerely wish WiseSoil success and believe that they will succeed!
