Final Opera 16

    This morning we are releasing a stable version of Opera 16  from our Opera Next channel . Among the most important changes of this version:

    • Fine-tuning page opera: flags ;
    • Support for autocomplete forms;
    • Returned Geolocation API;
    • Start page settings (now you can disable the download of Recommendations);
    • And finally, updating the engine to Chromium 29.

    The extension side also has some good news:

    Now we support the API chrome.cookiesand chrome.history( see the documentation ), you can also use the already mentioned geolocation and even scary think NPAPI plugins in your extensions. Of course, all these features are described in detail in the new documentation on extensions for Opera , to which we recently added more templates and examples of extensions . Based on them, you can create your own extensions.

    And of course, it’s worth mentioning as a separate line about the removed restriction on 6 extension buttons in the browser interface, which created problems for those who had many extensions.

    To support this release and the beautiful achievement of 300 extensions for Opera 15 and higher in our catalog , we interviewed Disneyect's Brown Kennisch in which he sheds light on the development process of the extension for Disconnect by the interface development team, talks about which tools they used what they plan next and so on.

    Enjoy your use , and we, as always, are happy to hear your impressions and feedback! If you are interested in knowing what will happen in future releases, check out  the Developer channel , which always has something new that will appear in future versions.
