The unexpected popularity of TinyRSS.ru

    When I wrote the previous article , I did not expect such enormous interest from the Habr community. It seemed to me that a maximum of two hundred people would be interested in the TinyRSS.ru service . Meanwhile, at the moment, more than 5 thousand people have already registered in the service! Such an interest was a big surprise and, moreover, I was not at all ready for this. A few days later, after the publication of the article, the service came down from the habraeffect, and after another two weeks someone was training their DDoS bots on it. I had to first rent a dedicated server, exclusively for the service, and then rent another server, more powerful.

    I also spent many days optimizing the server so that it can withstand the influx of those who want it. At the moment, on the server, I completely abandoned apache and the nginx + php-fpm bundle works successfully instead, and only solid state drives are used (there are 4 of them now).

    There are problems that have not yet been resolved. For example, everyone’s beloved LiveJournal has already blocked my server’s IP several times, for accessing their service too often. This problem has not yet been resolved. As an option, I see a solution to this problem in using proxies when accessing their servers. If you have ideas on how to solve this problem, please unsubscribe in the comments.

    With this post I would also like to express my gratitude to the people who supported the project financially. Thanks to you, it was possible to rent a new powerful server, which is currently working successfully. Many thanks! And also, on Igor’s advice , the option of opening a paid subscription (with the preservation of the free version) is also being considered to ensure the proper quality of service, since unfortunately donate does not cover all expenses.

    And as always, I am open to your wishes for improving the service and as far as possible I will try to implement them.

    UPD Already a few people have asked me for a link to the “open wish list” and the Donate page. As if these two links exist during authorization in the service, but I will duplicate them here too:
    1) A list of wishes and suggestions ;
    2) Donate page .
