Intel provides new opportunities for game developers

At a conference held at the end of March for game developers Game Developers Conference, Intel demonstrated several of its new developments, as well as the latest versions of well-known products.
First of all, these are two extensions for DirectX, designed to use the new functionality of the upcoming Haswell kernel. The PixelSync extension will allow developers to create more realistic smoke, glass, hair, and other objects that are difficult to draw. Realism is achieved by combining partially transparent pixels without the resource-intensive sorting process. Second extension, Instant Access, provides the graphics core with direct access to RAM for writing or reading; thus, the graphics integrated into the processor behaves like a discrete video card. Extension documentation can be found on the Intel website .
At the conference, in addition, a new version of the Perceptual Computing Software Development Kit (PercSDK) 2013 was introduced , starting with which developers get the opportunity to create commercial products (previously there was no such opportunity). Now a natural human interface (using voice or gestures) can be integrated into any software product. SDK is completely free, it is downloaded again from the Intel website .
Other news with GDC. Intel demonstrated the fruits of cooperation with the developers of the open source HandBrake video converter , namely, the new version of the converter using Intel Quick Sync Video technology to accelerate work on the latest Intel platforms.
