Unified Communication Center - Imo.im

I do not belong to the company that created the service, I do not work there and do not publicize them. I just found a service convenient for me and decided to share my impressions with you.

ICQ

I have long abandoned ICQ, a couple of years ago. Almost all friends can be contacted via contact, skype or mail. But recently it was necessary to chat with a person who lives only in ICQ. I didn’t want to install a “fat” client, and I began to look for a more or less convenient web client.

The first thing, of course, he climbed into "Web-ICQ - the new ICQ2go!" What can I say - this is a classic client from ICQ (now mail.ru). This is a bunch of ads, lags in the interface, an attempt to show the web service as a desktop application. Someone may like it, but I began to search further.

I dug up almost all of the links issuing Google. Some services did not support Russian, through some I basically could not log into the account. MegaFon UMS is generally just something ...
I eventually found IMO.IM.

Main window imo.im with loaded dialog

Imo.im

Briefly - a pleasant, developing service for convenient communication. Allows you to connect a bunch of services to a single account:
  • imo (own service account)
  • Msn
  • Skype
  • Yahoo
  • Google talk
  • Facebook
  • Aim
  • ICQ
  • Jabber
  • VKontakte
  • Steam

Service advantages

  • There is no advertising (it should be, but I did not notice it. Even with the adblock turned off). Something ran in the left panel, but I closed it and did not find how to open it again :)
  • Very smart interface. There are no lags at all.
  • The interface is actually convenient. The window does not try to crawl out of the browser.
  • Integration in one contact list from several social networks / services.
  • There are groups, block sheets
  • Full support for Russian in communication
  • Almost complete Russification of the interface (78% at the time of writing)
  • There are sound alerts / popup alerts
  • There is an iOS client.

Also, thanks @AMarkin
  • the ability to quickly exchange content (voice notes, photos, locations, videos) with those users who have a client
  • ability to make calls

Client for iOS

Minuses

  • No metacontacts. If 1 person is in 4 networks - you will have 4 contacts in the list.
  • Small flaws (in the iOS client, instead of avatars from social networks your avatar is pulled up), some thongs are not Russified.
  • Something else will certainly come out, but for now everything suits me.

Funny contact list in the client

Thin client - imo.im. Quick registration (does not ask for “retype password”, allows you to work with the service BEFORE activation by mail) Immediately I started all my accounts - and I communicate freely. Conveniently.

The client for iOS is quite convenient. There are no chic design solutions. He is boring in terms of design. But it fulfills its task 100% - you can quickly find a contact and write messages to him. I don’t need more.

Conclusion

You can use the service. Many available services, nice interfaces, Russian support and a solid mobile client impress this service. The lack of advertising adds advantages to the service.
