CES Summary: New Samsung Cameras at the International Consumer Electronics Show

    Good day, Habr!

Last week, the international consumer electronics exhibition CES 2013 was held - perhaps the most high-profile event of the year for all companies, one way or another connected with the production, assembly and development of technologies and software for consumer electronics in all its manifestations: from banal household appliances to hot innovations like flexible OLED displays and the latest processors for mobile devices. Below we have collected all the most interesting news that Samsung presented over the four days of the exhibition, from January 8 to 11. Some products are already on sale, others have yet to find their place in the domestic market. One way or another, under the cut you will find a lot of interesting things.

Even before the start of CES 2013, press releases were launched from Samsung headquarters announcing new products for the Home Appliances and Cameras categories. The first is not very interesting to us, so let's dwell on the new Samsung cameras.

    NX300
This is the new flagship model in the popular Samsung NX Series of Compact System Cameras (CSC). Along with it, Samsung also introduced the new NX 45mm F1.8 2D / 3D lens - the first 3D lens capable of capturing images and videos in Full HD quality and in 3D format.

At the heart of the NX300 is the new 20.3-megapixel APS CMOS sensor, capable of capturing images in the smallest detail. The wide ISO range (ISO100-25600) further enhances productivity by allowing users to capture perfectly balanced images even in low light. The new hybrid autofocus provides fast and accurate phase and contrast detection, while the high-speed shutter (the minimum available shutter speed is 1/6000 sec) and the continuous shooting mode (9 frames / sec) will not let you miss a single standing frame. The camera allows you to take pictures in Full HD quality at a speed of 60 frames per second.

Samsung’s new DRIMe IV advanced image enhancement technology, designed to improve shooting speed and image quality, is also responsible for improved color reproduction, noise reduction in photographs, and support for Full HD (1080p) video in 2D and 3D formats (combined with the new 45 Samsung 2D / 3D lens). Video output directly to the wide screen is via the HDMI 1.4a port. By the way, it is this version of the standard that supports 3D video transmission.

The NX300 is equipped with a 3.31-inch (84 mm) AMOLED screen with a resolution of 768,000 pixels, a hybrid touch screen and a 5-way navigation key - all this should provide an intuitive and easy to use interface. The display has a hinged design, it can be tilted up 90 degrees and down 30 for easy shooting above your head or from your hip.

The camera is equipped with the SMART mode already known for previous Samsung models, which allows you to choose one of 14 different shooting options, such as Creative Shot, Landscape, Light Track or Freeze Frame. All modes automatically adjust aperture and shutter speed to get the best results from shooting under various conditions. The NX300 also has the useful i-Depth feature - allowing you to adjust the image depth using the i-Function system.

The NX300 carries a dual-channel Wi-Fi module and a number of advanced wireless capabilities, collectively called SMART Camera 2.0. The NX300’s Wi-Fi connection allows users to instantly and safely share their photos by sending them from the camera to a smartphone or tablet: the user only needs to download the free Samsung SMART Camera app (available for both Android and iOS devices) to their smartphone or tablet and Follow simple instructions to create a secure connection to the camera.

The NX300 is equipped with the practical AutoShare function, which automatically sends all captured photos to your smartphone in hot dubbing mode for safe storage.

Another feature, Mobile Link, allows users to select and transfer images or entire photo albums from the camera directly to their smartphone at any convenient time. The SMART Camera app also includes a remote viewfinder feature for the NX300.

To place photos and video materials in one click on the camera body there is a hot DIRECT LINK button. In addition, images may be subject to automatic backup or storage in the cloud through the AllShare Play service - always securely protected and easily accessible.

The NX300 will go on sale in the first quarter of 2013 at a starting price of $ 750. The cost of a 3D lens is $ 500. Russian prices will be announced a little later. The camera is available in black or white.
