Google proves it didn't kill a donkey in Botswana

Google yesterday posted a clarification about a donkey spotted in Street View photographs in Botswana ( link ). The company conducted an investigation and raised archives of images from this African country. On the official Google Maps blog, employees dispelled all users' concerns and published evidence that the donkey remained alive.

Employees of Google Maps found a few additional images and restored the chronology of events. The first frames show that the Street View car is approaching a burro in the extreme lane.

But already in the next picture you can see that the artiodactyl stands on the sidelines.

In the end, in the last shot, the donkey stares in surprise after the car. Obviously, he is alive.

As a working hypothesis, Google employees put forward the version that the donkey took a dust bath, as they often do . In the Street View interface, the photos are glued in such a way that users have the false impression that the donkey had moved the car.

An animal lying on the road was noticed on January 14 by a certain “real Sheldon Cooper,” who posted a link on his twitter to 149 thousand followers. There was such a wave in social media that Google had to investigate.
