µTorrent will change peer-id every hour to avoid tracking
Any torrent client at startup generates a 20-byte peer-id value , where the version of the client and some random value are indicated. Peer-id is passed to the tracker and is used when connecting with other clients.
Unfortunately, recently in the BitTorrent network several services have appeared that try to track and identify users by order of copyright holders and law enforcement agencies. Tracking is possible by IP address and peer-id. To complicate the task for these services, µTorrent client developers in version 3.3 alpha (build 27841) introduced a new peer-id generation system , which will now be generated not every time the client starts, but every hour. Thus, tracking users will become more difficult.
