Review Dell Alienware M17x Notebook

Externally, the new product has not changed, compared with the previous generation. All the same alien design. Build quality pleases. The body feels one piece; plastic has a matte finish that is pleasant to the touch, and a large part of the laptop is 'sheathed' with aluminum. You can choose between red and black colors of the case. The display mounts reliably perform their functions, providing a maximum laptop opening angle of about 135 degrees and removing the need for latches. It is worth noting the AlienFX backlight system - you can choose one of 20 colors with which the keyboard, case and logos will be illuminated while working with a laptop. In this case, you can choose different colors for all elements to create your own lighting design.

The M17x has a 17-inch glossy display with Full HD resolution (16: 9, 1920 x 1080 pixels). You can choose from a modification of the display with 3D support (glasses included). The Alienware M17x screen is suitable for any use case, including professional image editing.

    Laptop
Keyboard Keys boast great depth of travel and soft, but sufficient impact. This is convenient not only in games, but also when typing. The keyboard is highlighted, with any of the users selected color.

Above the keyboard there are several function buttons for controlling the player, turning Wi-Fi on and off, and removing the optical disk.

The M17x touchpad has a large area and a smooth surface for work. The small plastic edging of the touch panel glows, so it’s easy to find in the dark.

Alienware offers the user four-core Ivy Bridge processors (22 nm manufacturing process). There are Core i7-3610QM, i7-3720QM and i7-3820QM to choose from. Alternatives exist when choosing a video adapter. NVIDIA GeForce GTX 660M, GTX 675M, GTX 680M and AMD Radeon HD 7970M are available. The maximum RAM capacity is 32 GB DDR3 1600 MHz. The laptop has 2 slots for installing drives (both hard drive and SSD). Supports the installation of 2 drives simultaneously with a total volume of up to 2 TB.

A little about the level of performance. It can be judged by the test results below.

Even considering the fact that the Alienware M17x belongs to high-end laptops, it is easy to admit that it is equipped with one of the best sets of ports and connectors.

Right: Optical drive, card reader, 2x USB 3.0, eSATA / USB 2.0, HDMI input

    Left: Kensington, Rj-45 (LAN), VGA, HDMI, Mini-DisplayPort, 2x USB 3.0, 4x Audio

Only the power connector is located behind.

The wireless adapter is the Intel Centrino Wireless-N 2230 adapter, which supports Bluetooth 4.0, as well as Wi-Fi b / g / n.

The built-in Klipsch speaker system sounds loud, the sound quality as for me is not bad, although I am not a connoisseur.

Of course a good and pleasant thing, only once again I sighed and thought: and why should good things be necessarily expensive? The question is rhetorical.
