CMS among the winners of the site competition "Runet Rating 2011"

At the end of June, the Runet Rating portal announced the entire list, congratulated and awarded the winners of the 2011 site contest, which started back in January. All this time, first users, and then experts voted for the work they liked. At the award ceremony, the organizers announced the top three in each of 27 nominations. The final list can be viewed at the link if one of you missed this event: http://www.ratingruneta.ru/awards/

But I do not want to tell you about this completely. The other day, for the sake of interest, my colleagues and I decided which engines were in demand among the three winners of the 2011 site contest. The results and observations that we made after today I submit to your court.

This diagram shows the CMS among the participants who took the entire podium:

The Other group includes (in alphabetical order): ABO.CMS, AstroCMS, diafanCMS, ModX, NG CMS, UMI.CMS, WordPress.

And below it is shown how the forces were distributed only among the winners:

For data collection, we used the iTrack CMS definition service .

Looking at the results, three facts seemed interesting to us:

    1. A large proportion of unknown to a wide range of CMS users: their own development or frameworks. Among the winners, this is not felt so sharply, but in the general list the advantage of unknown engines is overwhelming.
By the way, this year, for the first time, not only the development studios, but also the clients themselves were able to submit work to the contest. Perhaps we are observing a consequence of this innovation.
    2. An interesting fact: the manufacturer's website MotoCMS is powered by WordPress.
    3. Both among all participants and among the winners, there is a very small share of open source systems known to a wide range of developers. For one example, WordPress, ModX and the Russian NG CMS.
