451 - new status code for resources blocked by the state
Tim Bray, a Google employee whose name appears on the title page of the XML specification , proposed adding a new status code for resources that are legally restricted by the state.
The draft proposal has already been sent to the IETF .
Code 451 was not chosen by chance: a direct reference to Ray Bradbury ’s novel is intended to remind all of us of the despotic future predicted in it. The very idea of such a code has been with Tim since the blocking of Pirate Bay .
Do not be surprised if you will soon see 451 Unavailable for Legal Reasons on any of your favorite sites.
