HP discontinues webOS smartphones and TouchPads

HP has just officially announced the cessation of any future activities related to webOS devices, specifically webOS smartphones and TouchPads. This is unexpected and sad news, especially for all those who have relied on their hopes for this Linux-based operating system.

Perhaps webOS will continue to evolve without the help of HP, at least for some more time. HP is now deciding what to do with this system. Perhaps it will be licensed to other manufacturers .

Note that HP bought Palm a little over a year ago for $ 1.2 billion, along with a base of about 12,000 patents held by Palm. At current pricesit can cost about $ 9 billion. It's sad when patents cost more than the products themselves and innovative developments like webOS.

PS Sales of the TouchPad tablet began July 1, 2011, that is, 48 days ago.
