Once again about IE6, fanaticism, end-users and the customer focus of the web development market

    We help hosting with a client who has some website from some distant small town.

    I remember from a little experience of communication (put on the host) that the guys all the time got into a fuss and climbed into conflict. As a result, the client quarreled with them to death.

    Shoals truth was a lot. For example, all personal data entered into the application form was neatly stored in text files in the tmp folder with file names according to the surnames of people in Cyrillic. Obviously, to make it easier to figure it out. Google, of course, figured it out. The end is a bit predictable. The scandal even reached us, but we made a hosting account.

    One of the parables of the town was the inaccurate display of the site in IE6. Swearing for a long time. How it ended, I don’t know. I didn’t know more precisely.

    This morning, the same client calls me and says that their site does not open. Yandex opens, but the site does not open. And supposedly their partners called and said that the site was allegedly closed for reconstruction.

    I check. Works. Checking the domain. Delegated. I check other sites on the same hosting. All OK.
    I ask for a screenshot (told how to do it).
    I get a picture.
    What is there? That's right, a colorful suggestion to update the browser.


    Will explain.
    The picture is clear, beautiful, written in Russian. But I had to spend 10 minutes to explain:
    - what is a browser and why it is out of date
    - what are other browsers
    - that their client, who is sure that the site is “not working,” saw the same inscription and now they need to warn him (ALL)
    where it came from (guys from a small town did not warn about their original decision in the field of cross-browser typesetting)
    - that You have to put up with this

    . Think. The site was considered by three. Director of pre-retirement age and 2 managers. Clever girls. Surely the girls have a wall in contact and a page on a dating site.
    But they did not understand the picture.
    Mulling over.
    They called me.
