UN appoints a representative for contact with aliens

It turns out that the United Nations is not as useless as anyone thinks. Among their many committees and commissions can be found very necessary and relevant projects. For example, a little-known unit of UNOOSA (UN Office for Outer Space Affairs) is organizing a meeting with aliens.

A few days ago, the head of UNOOSA, an astrophysicist from Malaysia, Mazlan Othman spoke at a scientific conference before the Royal Science Society in the UK. She said that the recent discoveries of hundreds of planets in other stellar systems make it more likely than ever that they will encounter extraterrestrial life. The UN will coordinate the efforts of mankind to organize the first contact. For this work, the UNOOSA committee was created.
