WCG'10 - Russian final
I wanted to make this report last weekend, but, as usual, reality rudely made its corrections. I went to the Russian finals of the tenth World Cyber Games with a simple task - to photograph as many visitors as possible in order to lure them to the corporate page on FB, where we broadcast live from the tournament. However, I completed the task halfway - at some point I broke down and started shooting everything (to be honest, the female models were very distracting ;-)), as a result of which the material was accumulated for a full report (MANY PHOTOS).
The tournament was held in the 55th pavilion of the All-Russian Exhibition Center, next to well-known gamers of the 57th, where Igromir has been held for many years. The hall was conditionally divided into 4 parts:
- a scene with 10 computers (for 2 teams) with a large screen and TVs next to each of the computers - semi-finals and finals were held on it - two large game areas for qualifying games with rows lined with computers - an entertainment area fenced off from the stage by rows of stands with Xboxes on which anyone could play, and the choice of games was great - I recognized Tekken, Prototype, Red Dead Redemption, Halo ... In the center of this zone stood the Samsung Mobile stand, which hosted the WCG Samsung Mobile Challange tournament in racing simulator Asphalt 5: You could play on the side of it b into radio-controlled cars: Pop into the online shooter Point Blank, which, by the way, also held the championship: To dabble in Guitar Hero:
And play soccer! In general, among the contests there were quite a lot of physical strength - push-ups, squats, etc. ... They say there was also a contest in which it was necessary to raise stand-up girls, but I missed it. Especially delivered a contest in which the dudes were invited to dance with the cheerleaders. Dudes with pompons look hilarious ;-) The role of the leader went to Chuck, the MTV widget and, once, A-One. He coped with it with dignity, and was almost confused in terminology (which is quite common at such events; I remember that at the last RIF the invited musicians at the Mail.ru party correctly called them only for the first time, and all the rest of the way screamed joyfully YANDEX - YOU ARE THE BEST! ”,“ HURRY TO YANDEX! ”).
A little about children - there were few children ;-) The first day fell on Friday, and the few teenagers were most likely random onlookers. I really remembered these two girls who were harshly cutting in Tekken: About the audience: There were unexpectedly many spectators, both at 10 am on the first day and at 9 pm on the second. The audience still leaves me in surprise - during the CS finals, which went until half past nine in the evening, no one left without waiting for the results of the match! About WCG 2010, Samsung Mobile Challange: Asphalt 5 from Gameloft replaced computer NFS and became the only car simulator that made its way into the WCG discipline grid. During the championship, games are played on our Galaxy S running Android (2.2, by the way, as they say, will appear very soon).
The winner was three-time Asphalt champion Philip Missouri, who received a paid trip to the Grand Final in Las Vegas, where he will represent Russia in this discipline. He also received $ 1000, and our pride - the flagship communicator Samsung Galaxy S. Roman Davydov and Vasily Bogdanov, who took 2nd and 3rd place, received another phone on our phone - Samsung Wave. About Point Blank: This discipline is not included in the WCG list, but it was included in the Russian final. As a result of fights that were not inferior in terms of heat to the finals in CS, the top three teams look like this: 1. PyJIoH Gaming! 2. Ncsky 3. eXistenz The prize pool, by the way, was similar to what the best CS players expected: 1st place $ 6,000, 2nd place $ 4500, 3rd place $ 3500. About other results:
In Warcraft, everyone pulled Happy, who received $ 1,500 and a paid trip to the Grand Final. Second place went to Nicker, who also received a paid trip and $ 1,000. Naps left the third place - he received $ 800 and the right to participate in the Grand Final. At FIFA and StarCraft, the prizes were similar. In FIFA, frostee took the first place, the second and third - semjke and Park. BRAT_OK, Advokate and Heme were cut into the brood best of all. The final of CS 1.6 dragged on for several hours, when [USB] in overtime still managed to beat veterans from forZe. Both of them got the right to represent Russia at the Grand Final, but forZe will go there at their own expense. Here they will really need $ 4,500 earned for second place, but [USB] will be able to save their prize $ 6,000 - their trip will be paid. About moments of victory:
I really wanted to have more of these shots (and at the same time straighten my arms myself), but since the games were running at the same time, it was impossible to catch a joyful cry with the camera on the other end of the pavilion. About girls-gamers: They are and they are very beautiful! The female part of the RoX team perfectly fired in WC3 with everyone. About stand-up girls: The number of girls who worked at the exhibition was not inferior to Igromir passing in the neighborhood, and I won’t say anything about their beauty. See for yourself: It's hard, but pay attention to the quality of the Super AMOLED displays of our Galaxy S.
In conclusion, I will say that the event really left a very pleasant impression - the organizers managed to make a holiday out of a very specific hangout, at which even a passer-by could find entertainment to their liking. What can we say about gamers ;-)
