Startup Weekend: Results and Impressions

    Hello!
So our first Startup Weekend ended. We have already written a detailed report on the Startup Weekend website , but here we will talk a little about the most important thing - the results.

We expanded the format of the weekend and held a brainstorm on it for those who came without ideas and did not find interesting projects for themselves. It turned out, not in vain: at the final presentation on Sunday, it was precisely the projects born at the weekend itself that turned out to be the brightest.

9 projects signed an agreement of intent with experts. It is understood that for a month the project and the expert work in a tight connection, after which they decide to allocate to the expert a share in the project. An expert who receives a stake becomes a project mentor .
Four projects interested investors: agreements of intent with two projects (PowerCrowd and Datalite) were signed by Arkady Moreynis, two other strategic investors, IQONE and Business World Online, were interested in Combild and Spotix projects.

But better than ourselves, our participants will tell about our event. Here is a letter from Anastasia, the author of an idea that managed to interest two mentors and one investor at once:

“This disgrace began with Leshka, who found a link to StartupPoint with information about the rapidly approaching StartupWeekend.
    - Let's go! Let's see what and how. Let's look around, next time we’ll bring the project.
    - HZ. They write, of course, that you can come empty-handed, too, but somehow it's not ice ...
    - Well, as a fallback, let's get some idea. Let's help the office killer of time. What can this be crossed with? For example, with games from distant childhood. What did you play?
    - Hmm ... What did we have there? .. Fifteen were ...
    - Oh! Redhead! Right! Look ...
So the first, exclusively online version of the Fifteen was born - people catch up with each other exclusively on online maps.
As a result, we did not even present it on the first day, as the idea was frankly raw, and it remained so - a fallback. Not finding in the list of initially presented ideas such that we would like to join, on the second day we went to the brainstorm. We immediately realized that the table on which LBS (Location-based service) is being discussed is our table. Actually here, during a very heated discussion, the idea of the Fifteen was born in the form in which it was presented - catching up with real people in a real city with navigation on electronic maps.
At the end of the second day, Pyatnashki was recognized as the best idea born on a brainstorm by a spectator vote. It was very nice that so many people started to hurt us right away. Replenishment arrived to our team - Sasha Vashchilo, Lesha Korenek, experts - Natalya Chanysheva and Sergey Biryukov. Sasha Kirin from a neighboring team said that he has software developments in the field of working with maps on mobile devices, expressed his willingness to share. The evening ended on a very positive note. )))
In the morning, our 4 A team (Anastasia Shmatkova, Aleksey Krivonosov, Aleksey Korenek, Alexander Vashchilo) continued to work. We clarified the functionality, figured out the technical points. Somewhere from lunch, I was completely turned off from the life of SW - I began to prepare the text for the presentation. )) The guys themselves took the slides. For help with the presentation, I want to once again thank everyone by name. Tatyana Indina is the first to save me. Calmed, encouraged, helped to find the inner point of support. Natalya Chanysheva - “Oh! Fifteen! I was rooting for you yesterday! ” - how nice it is when they believe in you)) - helped to clean the presentation. Ksenia Elkina - helped to harmoniously complete the presentation, with the ending we are completely indebted to her. Sergey Biryukov - suggested where there are strange places for the unknowing listener.
The time from 12 to 18 - passed like in a fog. All thoughts on the text, how to better compose and present it. So when Sergey Biryukov (who turned out to be the representative of Askar Tuganbaev) and Vitaly Akimov (Glavstart) with the signing of mentoring papers began to catch us before the presentation began - it was very pleasant, but there was no strength to realize this fact. )) Already after the presentation, and we were the first to defend ourselves, we began to gradually reach. Our idea caught fire mentor. An idea that was actually born yesterday. Unreal. ))) The science fiction did not end there - a message appeared on Twitter that the investor was ready to talk with us. Looked at the profile - Andrei Borisevich, representative of the SOUP. I was no longer surprised at the forces. )))
During the announcement of whom preliminary agreements were made with, Askar Tuganbaev teased Andrei Borisevich, saying that he had never made money so fast in his life. They say that somewhere behind in this moment Yandex wanted to get into the Pyatnichka section between mentors / investors, I, unfortunately, missed this moment.
What I want to say by the end. We raised a toast at the end of the third day - “To the very beginning of work”. Since it really is only just beginning. Thanks to StartupWeekend for the chance to start this work. Indeed, much can be done in 54 hours. ”
