Talk about wireless? 1. Intro
[Since the Iron blog, this article was rapidly falling in the ranking, threatening my presence on Habré, I’m republishing it {already with a small picture in the top} to my personal blog, because I think that I still need an intro]
Hello Habr! Today (as, indeed, always) is a great day to begin your plan! Anyone who has something in mind - start it immediately! Start earlier - get results sooner and praise for the delay!
So, I thought of this: write a series of small articles about wireless equipment for our favorite computers and (laptop / no) beech. Moreover, not once again to tell you about some trivial ones, Wi-Fi or Wi-Max, or a wonderful bluetooth mouse, no. It will be about much cooler things that help to drive balls of electronic snakes from home.
In this series I want to tell you about wireless video transmission, including HD format; “Airborne” sound and electricity, as well as various auxiliary communications, such as wireless USB, etc.
Articles will be published once every few days, with a gap of not more than a week. Each article will be devoted to a separate wireless topic or its subsection. Thematic breakdown I plan to do something like this:
- wireless video
a) External video cards
b) Built-in, native video cards
c) Video extenders or wire substitutes
d) Media servers
- wireless sound
(sections are the same as in video)
- wireless electricity
a) Transmission with touch
b) distance transmission
c) Alternative sources - other
wireless
(WUSB, Wi-Gig, Wireless PCI-Express)
All the devices that will be mentioned exist in real life and are already actively used in everyday life by Western IT geeks, but the turn to bring comfort to your own homes has come and for us. Real links to manufacturers and stores will be given after the description of each device.
However, some existing wireless innovations have not yet entered the stage of mass production, so links to them, for the most part, will be limited to video from consumer electronics exhibitions.
I also want to note that in RuNet there is very little information about a variety of wireless toys and they are outdated, or, in some areas, they simply are not available as a fact. So all that will be covered in the cycle is carefully collected and structured information from Western forums and taken directly from manufacturers of wireless devices. Some things in general can only be found at ebay or alibaba auctions: on the websites of official representatives, information about them is often not available.
Wireless video
Transferring wireless video from a computer to a monitor / TV is perhaps one of the most sought-after features on the market today. There is even a number, in my opinion, of very miserable devices, such as FM transmitters, only for transmitting video: a computer or other video signal is wrapped in a television transmission signal and your TV simply catches a channel that you created nearby, with a special receiver. The signal is limited by the specifications of today's TV standards, for example, for PAL, the maximum screen resolution will be only 720x576 pixels. Similar to a mix of tulips. Their only advantage is that the devices are not afraid of any obstacles in the face of walls, furniture, ceilings; have a good range - over several rooms / floors. A detailed examination of these devices will not be honored, however,

Many of you, for sure, use some tricky devices, a la home (media) servers and technologies, such as DLNA, this type of wireless transmission of media content belongs to the media servers section and will also be considered by us in subsequent articles.
In order not to overload the reader unnecessarily, I will end this introductory article and ask the respected public to comment on the above with general and private wishes / corrections / additions, for the series of articles was conceived as an open dialogue between the author and Khabravchan.
So, are you ready?
