Symantec Acquires VeriSign Authentication Services
Information from Reuters news agency about the upcoming deal between Symantec and VeriSign was confirmed yesterday by the official press releases of these companies ([ 1 ], [ 2 ]).
Services purchased by Symantec include: Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) Certificate Services, Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) Services, VeriSign Trust Services and VeriSign Identity Protection (VIP) Authentication Service.
Under the agreement, Symantec will purchase VeriSign assets, including a controlling stake in VeriSign Japan. The amount of the transaction will be about 1.28 billion dollars.
