The first Ukrainian game for Android - Fox Hunter

We are interested in the development for Android and have long wanted to write something for this platform, try out the technology, touch the market, go through the submission in the Android Market. Now we are mainly engaged in development for the iPhone, and in Android we see the future and new opportunities, therefore, until there were real problems, we decided to create our own game in the laboratory mode. In a short discussion, an idea was born, in his spare time, the designer drew the design, they wrote the music themselves. And so, after almost half a year of leisurely work, Fox Hunter appeared :).

Initially, Fox Hunt is a sports direction finding competition that has been popular since World War II. Based on this competition, back in 1985, the same-named logic game was invented for the Electronics calculator, many versions of which exist for computers and mobile phones, and now for Android smartphones.

    The essence of the game

“Foxes” are randomly placed on the playing field and the player’s task is to find them in the least number of moves. When you open the cell, you either find a fox, or you see a number showing the total number of foxes horizontally, vertically and two diagonals. The game is somewhat reminiscent of "Minesweeper", but in "Minesweeper" signals act only on neighboring cells, and in Fox Hunter - throughout the entire column, row or diagonal.

    Android Market

The submission procedure in the Android Market is quick and smooth - within 10 minutes after downloading the application, it is available for download.

After receiving the first reviews of the game (especially thanks for the myshyak tips ), we improved usability a bit, added a few new features and a week later launched Fox Hunter v2.0 with an updated interface.

For an incomplete month of the game’s stay in the market, almost 4,000 users downloaded it.

Two peaks on the graph show the submission dates of the first and second versions - as it turned out, unlike the App Store in the Android Market, the application falls into the “latest” category with each update and, accordingly, each new version gets a good boost for a successful start.

We ourselves love logic puzzles and think that Fox Hunter will appeal to everyone who is not averse to trying out their erudition and moving their brains :).
