Razer Naga - the game and work will be more convenient

I present to your attention: Razer Naga.

A mouse, positioned as a gaming mouse, is suitable not only for games, but also for design and programming, in general, this device is for those who spend a lot of time alone with a computer and want to make communication with them more pleasant.

I express my deep gratitude to Boomburum , who gave me this device.

Here is what box I got:

The most ordinary box, but we know what is hidden in it. We open the lid, and here we have a powerful beast. Turned off, still quiet, not feeling the hands of a gamer. (I apologize for the glare in the photo)

Here, in fact, the entire contents of the box:

    - The mouse itself - Razer Naga
    - Brochure catalog from Razer
    - Instruction
    - Advertisements
    - Company stickers
    - Trainers (trainers, but more about them later)

Well, a little technical features, and then we will move on to the details.

    Snapshot

    Feel

Because I did not have the opportunity to immediately turn on the mouse, I’ll tell you about the impressions that it makes.

So this is a black matte mouse. It looks quite impressive: ergonomic design, company logo, rubber buttons 1-12, a combination of matte and glossy finish.

In the hand the mouse lies like a glove. It is very convenient both for the gamer and for the simple user. I must say that I used it for almost 6 hours without a break, my hand wasn’t tired, my wrist didn’t hurt, although I suffer from such problems with ordinary mice during long work. We are pleased with a stand on the right side of the mouse for the ring finger, which does not take part in the management. The thumb rests on the pleasant cover of the buttons (read on about trainers). Index and middle lie in the recesses of the buttons. No discomfort while holding the mouse is not tested.

In general, according to first impressions, the mouse is very convenient, but let's see what really can be done with it.

So, this is how Naga looks like it is not turned on, without power, but you just plug the plug into the USB port and its “face” is transformed. The buttons will turn blue, it will flood and the wheel, the company logo will appear. The animal begins to breathe ...

But, let us return from the digression to the truth of life.

    Without driver

First, consider the device, or rather its panel with numbers, without installing software, that is, how his computer perceives it, like a normal mouse.

I want to say right away that on the bottom of the mouse there is nothing new, just a 123-NUM switch, which allows you to switch the layout of buttons 1-12, and the laser positioning system (well, let's call it that)

These buttons are nothing special: they are only duplicate the action of keys on the keyboard (from 1 to = or NumPad keys). In principle, their use is very useful if you work with a calculator, in Excel, or maybe make an order in an online store - and it’s very convenient to set the quantity. But, this is only a small part of what you can do with this mouse.

I didn’t like the buttons next to LMB. Not convenient. The index finger is not convenient, but you can’t reach with your thumb. However, maybe for some they will become indispensable (I put copy-paste functions on them).

I will not dwell on this anymore and will proceed directly to installing the driver for this device. From this moment, your perception of reality will change. You will feel the power over the world ..

    Side view.

    With driver

Again, consider the action of the mouse in applications, and only then move on to its target orientation - to games.

Here they are, the advanced settings of the Razer Naga, here it turns out where all the power is hidden.

Here you can change almost everything (excluding the physical features of the device): from the presence of backlight to DPI.

So, on the main page you can customize the buttons. It is proposed to set the action on the buttons:
    • Cry
    • Menu
    • Scroll
    • Forward
    • Back
    • Macro
    • Sensitization
    • Sensitivity reduction
    • On-the-fly sensitivity
    • Profile Switching
    • Single key (e.g. Backspace)
    • Scroll up
    • Scroll down
    • Off button

I think that all these samples are understandable and I will not dwell on each, but I will separately discuss macros, sensitivity and profiles, because There are special separate tabs for this.

    DPI

Here we see a thorough and precise DPI setting. I will try to briefly tell you why it is needed at all for those who have never changed it and used what the mouse initially gives. To be pedantic, then dpi is dots per inc, that is, the number of dots per linear inch. Since these are not quite standard parameters for Russia, I’ll explain more simply. DPI Used to indicate the resolution, well, or, if even easier, to indicate the speed of the cursor on the screen. The higher the DPI, the correspondingly faster the cursor moves.

It would seem that it can be simpler, the more the better. But no, not always, I tell you.

Low DPI is very useful with a few things:
    • You are a designer and you need to be very precise. Clearly draw a line or put an element of composition
    • You play a game where you need to very clearly position the heroes, etc.

In general, this mode is useful in cases where you need to do something very clearly, accurately and painstakingly.

High DPI will come in handy:
    • You are a designer and you need to quickly paint over a large picture or apply some sharp strokes
    • You play Action and you have to react very quickly.

In any case, a high DPI comes in handy for fast and powerful things.

But you probably ask, why is there such a fine-tuning here?

And I will answer you - this is because Razer cares about consumers and allows them to choose the perfect setting for themselves. That is why, you can set exactly the DPI that will be convenient for you, and not the manufacturer. This is very convenient because you customize the mouse for yourself and it will be very convenient for you to use it. For example, I have 2 settings - for Photoshop and games - these are 2500 and 5000. Also, you can configure several presets and switch between them.

    Profiles

A very useful thing, especially if you put a profile switch on some button. In essence, a profile is your saved settings for individual applications or users. You can use them as you wish. For example, I created profiles for design, web surfing and programming. For Photoshop, 12 buttons are assigned to perform settings, in Delphi it’s some constructions that are inserted into the code, but in Firefox it’s forward, backward, copy, print selected, etc. In general, it seemed to me very convenient.

    Macros

Do I need to tell you what macros are? I think no.

I want to say one thing: with this mouse they are very handy, because There are no very advanced button settings, you can give them virtually any action.

    Trainers or navels

This is also quite an important lotion to this mouse, but we will not dwell on it for long.

What it is? - these are just rubber patches that can be glued to the digital keyboard of the mouse to better navigate them. Convenient enough, because you immediately know where which button is. Razer offers several ways to apply them. But you can do as you please, even stick all the buttons. It is convenient, necessary, helps to adapt, and the finger rests gently on them.

    Backlight

We can only enable or disable the highlighting of an element. Everything is simple. Sometimes it is necessary if someone is sleeping in the room, and the blue light interferes.

    Games

And, finally, we move on to why this device was invented, for games.

First I’ll tell NOT about MMORPG.

So, Razer Naga can also be used in other games. Yes, it surprised me too, but I found this feature.

Yes, the minus is that you cannot program these 12 buttons in games other than World Of Warcraft or Warhammer, BUT
    1. Who's stopping you from programming macros, single keys, and profiles in Naga Configurator?
    2. As numeric buttons, they are also very convenient, for example, in Counter-Strike, Half-Life, Call Of Duty, etc., games. After all, buttons 1-0 switch weapons (!). Believe me, this is really convenient. But what to do with the wheel? It cannot be unused. Here you have 2 options: either leave it to duplicate the switching of weapons, or assign some action to it, because we can program the scroll.

In general, I found the use of the mouse in games before installing WOW on the computer.

And finally, how the controls look in World of Warcraft with a plugin.

It is put like all plugins, so fans will not have problems.

Also, I think there will be no difficulties in setting up. I will give only a few screenshots so that experts can appreciate. In general, the plugin changes the appearance of standard panels and adds its own. Use can only be so. If you do not like the panels, then turn off the plugin and configure the buttons with your hands through the configurator. But it is more hemorrhoids uncomfortable.

This is how the panels look. By the way, you can switch between them using the Shift key + button (1-12)

Below you see the areas of all panels, which can also be finely tuned. Set their size, make a binding to the character, etc.

These are the main settings of the plugin.

Well, here you can switch between character profiles. It is convenient if you have several of them and for each you can make your own layout.

    Summary + Lynch

To summarize, I want to say again about my own impressions: The

mouse is good, high-quality. It doesn’t slip out of the hands, as it sometimes happens, has rather fine settings. It lies well in the hand, comfortable, the hand does not get tired after several hours of play. In general, I like the mouse, very much so. I believe that it is applicable not only to avid gamers, but also to people who sit at the computer for a long time and use it on a professional level.

I believe that this mouse is really worth the price that is being asked for it. This is a really high-quality gaming mouse not only for gamers.

Now let's move on to the pros and cons of all aspects of the device. Already without impressions, only facts.

    Lynching department

Pros (from + to +++, where +++ is very good, + good)
    • Ergonomics +++

So it lies on the table in its usual environment:

And so it looks in the company of mice that were at hand:

The best end to the review will be the phrase , which really characterizes it: “For gamers, by gamers” (For gamers, from gamers)
