Andrea Mosaic - mosaic quickly and concisely

Today I want to talk about how to create such pictures.
Do not see anything special? Can you do it yourself? Look under the cat. The picture is clickable. (Traffic, carefully!) Upd: Replaced the picture with a more important one today. So, I present to your attention the program Andrea Mosaic (links at the end). I ran into her a long time ago when I had to make a gift to my friend. By the way, I saw the idea for the first time in the James Blunt album. I think the guys did great. At first, the idea seemed simple to me: a lot of small pictures, and one big one with transparency.

Well, I took photoshop, took a large photo of my friend, took out a bunch of her and photos together with me, and began to sculpt. I’ll say right away, comrades, this is horror. Firstly, all pictures are different in size, and fitting them all to squares did not affect them well.
Secondly, the quality and illumination of all the photos are different and in the end it turned out that I immediately deleted and began to peer at my prototype, that is, the cover of the singer.

And so, I saw that it turns out that there is no picture of him with transparency. And this is just a lot of his photographs, clearly and painstakingly laid out in colors, with changed shades, gamma, brightness and contrast. It struck me, because I could not believe that this was done by human hands. Well, we are Russian people and the search is not alien to us. After a while I came across Andrea Mosaic on the net. Unfortunately, I didn’t have that photo, and for the sake of confidentiality I wouldn’t post it.

But, I want to show you the last thing that I did - this is a gift for the 3rd anniversary of the music portal, a logo consisting of albums. Clickable. But enough examples, having at least a few pictures on your computer - you yourself can already do such things.

I will show you a better program interface. Fortunately, to my surprise, he is the simplest.

Drag and drop (or select the upper right) file to the working area. You set the modes, that is: the size, size of each piece, their number, what you can do with the pieces (rotate, reflect, change the brightness or contrast, etc.), press Select Tiles - choose a bunch of pictures (the program itself will select the most suitable color) click Create Mosaic, you wait depending on the number of photos and the size of your sample, but on average it is from 2 to 10 minutes. (agree, not so much for such a meticulous work)

And in the end you get a beautiful image.
