FM transmitter in car
I am not ashamed to admit - I now have a killed nine with a killed radio and there is simply no point in investing in it - it’s better to dig into a new car, and leave this “for shovels and potatoes”)

Well, what to study is suitable. ButI’m young and full of energy) when you have to get out somewhere, you must agree that it’s much more pleasant to go to music. Under the cut - the budget option to resolve the issue.
It will be about the Ritmix FMT-A955 FM transmitter . Before that, I had not had to meet with such devices, but a quick search on the Internet gave some ideas about what is among similar devices, as well as what is generally worth waiting for from them.
The principle of operation of the FM transmitter is simple - the device, powered by a car (through the cigarette lighter socket), receives a signal from an external source (player, phone, flash drive) and transmits it to the radio. That’s if it’s absolutely lamer) But in practice it’s just as simple.

In the unsightly box was the transmitter itself, an external microphone with a clip, a remote control, an audio cable, a spare fuse and instructions.

The device is more than modest in size and weight. At first it may seem that the device is all-metal, but in fact it is made of plastic.

It is assembled very soundly, although due to the low cost of the device, certain doubts about the stability creep in during active daily use. The plug has one degree of freedom - it can always somehow be inserted into the cigarette lighter.
The transmitter has a small single-line black and red display (which, in my opinion, is an IR receiver), which displays various information. Under the display there are two buttons - a green handset and a red one (for working with calls).

Even lower is a slide down (slider)) panel that closes 6 buttons (three of which are responsible for switching tracks).
On the left side there is an audio input, a headphone jack and a microphone jack - unfortunately, everywhere 2.5mm (so the same player can only be connected through the adapter 3.5mm-2.5mm from the kit). On the right is an SD / MMC card slot and a USB port.

The device supports operation only in the FM range, at frequencies from 76.0 to 93.0 (with the ability to set the desired frequency with an accuracy of 0.1). Being in the very center of Moscow, unfortunately, on the radio we managed to find ONLY ONE frequency free from ether - 89.0. This frequency was indicated on the transmitter and ... actually, after that the music from the inserted flash drive immediately began to play, absolutely without any interference! In the suburbs, the same frequency is also free. The sound was no different from the sound that would be when playing a disc.

The search for music files is performed automatically and lasted about 10 seconds on an 8GB flash drive, after which the most usual music playback started, which is nice, without interference. The transmitter can be picked on internal folders - the main thing is that the volume of the medium is no more than 32GB, that it has FAT32 and that there are no more than 2000 files. Unfortunately, no tags or identification marks were displayed on the radio.

If I connected an MP3 player (Cowon S9) through the bundled cable, there were no problems with playback either (it became even more convenient - familiar navigation and easy search, although the question arose about placing the player), although at the very beginning I encountered some interference in the form of crackles and a slight hiss. It was decided simply - by decreasing the volume on the radio and increasing the volume in the player.

About the remote control. The fact that he is, of course, is only a plus. But, for example, I can’t imagine how to use it while driving - you will have to stretch your hand the same way both to the remote control and to the device itself. So if only from the back seat or outdoors from the street, provided that the door is open and the IR receiver is in direct line of sight. The rest - the remote is small thin, easily fits behind a hinged sunscreen contraption. There are a lot of buttons on it, but everything is signed and you can figure it out without any instructions)
In the glove compartment of a friend there was another FM transmitter, also from Ritmix - all killed, but alive)

There, the principle of operation is exactly the same, with the exception that the device itself was powered not from the cigarette lighter, but from the device itself, into which it sank (3.5mm). Accordingly, there is no support for memory cards and other flash drives, but you can "transmit" not only in the car, but anywhere - because it is powered by the battery of the sound source. What surprised him was that he “interrupted” the tested device at the same frequency.
Turn on BT on the transmitter and on the communicator. On the second, we search for devices and, if successful, add the first using the standard password 0000.

Then, at least on my phone, you can specify why the transmitter is used - for playing music, for talking, or for both at once. Losing nothing, he chose the third point.

So, I launch the player on the phone and ... right, the music starts playing in the car speakers. There were no problems in terms of signal quality or delays. And what’s very convenient - you can connect any phone and listen to anyone’s music.

The funniest thing began when a friend and I decided to check the operation of the handsfree-component of the transmitter :) He got out of the car and dialed my number - the sound of a bell rang out from the bowels of the car.

I accept the call - I hear him perfectly, but he doesn’t. I try and this way and that - he does not hear. Suddenly he remembered that a microphone with a clip came in the kit, I took it out - unwound it, connected it and tried to say something. There is success, but variable. Actually, the whole comic of the situation was that we were so carried away by the process that we did not pay attention to the few witnesses around. And, as you know, to "imitate" the conversation is quite difficult. So it turned out something like this - there is a guy standing near the car who, at different volume levels, generated something like "Come on, Putin will not wait; Now let's say the whole budget like this; ABOUT! The ministers went on tanks! Comrade President, the state conference will begin in two minutes; Once again, a sleeper ”, etc., and I tried to find a convenient place for a figovinka on a wire in an untoned car, into which I also said something with some frequency :)

As you can see, nothing funny) in our severe time ... even if you consider that two lunatics did all this near those red brick walls))

In general, the result is the following - I could perfectly hear the interlocutor, but he practically does not have me. Where I didn’t place this microphone, as I didn’t speak into it ... so, perhaps (and I’m almost certainly sure of it), this is a problem of only a specific instance. I would be happy to check on another microphone (it is on the same ears from the player), but the 2.5mm audio jack somehow did not contribute to this.
During an incoming call, the music is paused, and after the conversation, it is turned back on. There is no problem dialing a number, by pressing the green handset on the transmitter you can redial the last called number. When you call, the number of the person you are talking to is displayed on the radio.
Bluetooth connection with the Cowon S9 player did not work - there it seems to be only for headphones. And it’s a pity - given its battery life ... But at the same time connecting HD2 via Bluetooth and Cowon S9 through the wire really happened - and there is music and road safety is increased))
Pros:
- Good equipment (remote control);
- Small size;
- Good quality workmanship and assembly;
- Support for memory cards and USB-flash drives;
- Ability to work with the player via wire, with the phone via Bluetooth;
- Handsfree function.
Cons:
- Audio connectors 2.5mm;
- Tight fit into the cigarette lighter;
- Once you can not find a free FM frequency :)
- Price.
I would like to:
- A little more informative display;
- Ability to record to a USB flash drive through a microphone (not a DVR, but already something);
- 3.5mm connectors
And I still don’t know which side to consider the fact that the signal from the transmitter can, in fact, be received from a neighboring car (being within the range of the transmitter) - figs with it, with music, let them listen ... but what about calls? I didn’t test it (
As for the price - it ranges from 1700 to 2100 rubles apiece. Not so much, but, IMHO, such glands should not cost more than 1000 rubles) In any case, it is much cheaper than any radio with USB -port and even more so, a separate device for creating a handsfree-system.

In fact, the test was liked first of all by its somewhat non-standard) It was at least interesting what it really is.
In practice, it turned out to be a very interesting device, but very controversial. Indeed, now most foreign cars come with a function for wireless talk and even more so, work with MP3. On the other hand, I don’t remember from memory cars that play from memory cards and ordinary USB flash drives. So you need this piece of iron for each one and rests only on the source data.
The radio was used the simplest, with a single-line display, however, it worked on it. I think on more advanced devices there would be tags on the screen and something else there ... but as a rule, in more expensive head units there really are 99% of the transmitter’s functionality) So, if there’s a hacked machine, there’s a bit of coin for the desire to listen to music, without worrying about burning discs in a car - you can take this device into account. Everything is bad in my trough with music, so this thing has found a use) It's cheap and cheerful.

Ps Photos in the article were made in emphasis from a friend. Recently, a link to Twitter has to be hidden;)
Good luck!
