Upset passenger arrested for Twitter post

Meet Paul Chambers. Like thousands of passengers whose flights could be canceled due to bad weather, Paul was very upset. Paul was so upset that he threatened to blow up the airport on his Twitter, and now he's in jail.





"Heck! Airport Robin Hood is closed. You have a little more than one week to clear all this crap, otherwise I’ll fuck this airport up. ”

A little later, on January 13, the police knocked on his door, looking with interest at a paper copy of that same tweet. Paul tried to explain that he simply threw his frustration into a microblog, but unfortunately the police had no idea what Twitter was. So, he was arrested, interrogated, and released on bail before the hearing on February 11th.

In addition, the threatened tweet was deleted, and the computer and iPhone were confiscated. I understand that some paranoid people are very circumspect, but couldn’t they begin to trace this guy’s connections with terrorist groups? Or at least check his house for traces of explosives.

The only answer to his explanations that he received from the police officer was: "In this world we live."
