19-inch flexible e-paper from LG

LG Display has announced the creation of flexible electronic paper in newspaper format and thickness. Screen sizes - 25x40 centimeters, which corresponds to a 19-inch diagonal, thickness - 0.3 mm.

The company succeeded in creating such a screen thanks to the use of foil substrates, whereas glass substrates are usually used in the production of electronic paper.

The appearance of a 19-inch format does not mean that in the near future we will see readers based on it. At least until the fall of LG will master the production of the previous size - 11.5 inches, which was first shown six months ago. However, this size will be enough to successfully compete with tablets. It can be expected that the 19-inch format will be put into production by the end of 2010 or the beginning in 2011.
