How fast is USB 3.0?

At the Consumer Electronics Show 2010, the USB Implementers Forum (USB-IF), which is responsible for promoting the eponymous interface, announced the first 17 user products that went through official certification tests for SuperSpeed USB (also known as USB 3.0). This list includes motherboards, laptops, consumer electronics devices and other products from key manufacturers such as ASMedia Technology, ASUSTeK Computer, Fujitsu, GIGABYTE Technology, LucidPort Technology, Western Digital, I / O Interconnect, RATOC Systems, SIIG, Symwave.

Despite the fact that we have already seen in the news feed a lot of motherboards with USB 3.0, in the above list so far only two models appear - ASUS P6 × 58D Premium and  GIGABYTE GA-P55A-UD3. Of the laptops, only two devices are certified SuperSpeed USB - the HP Envy 15 and the Fujitsu FMV-BIBLO NF / G70.

The list of certified products also included four “USB 3.0 to SATA” controllers from ASMedia (ASM1051), Fujitsu (MB86C30), LucidPort (USB300), Symwave (SW6316), ExpressCard and PCI Express expansion cards with USB 3.0 ports, cases for 2, 5 ”and 3.5” USB 3.0 hard drives, Western Digital My Book external hard drive  .
