In China, tightened the registration of domains for individuals

According to the Financial Times , the Chinese authorities have closed the registration for individuals of domains in the .cn zone. But according to Xinhua, this information is not true. In reality, the national registrar CNNIC introduced a request for additional data during registration. In particular, a personal presence and authoritarian filling out an application for domain registration is required.

These measures have been taken to tighten control over the distribution of pornography and illegal content on the Internet. The requirement of personal presence will scare off adult webmasters and creators of pirated sites.

Recall that at present such services as LiveJournal, Wikipedia and Facebook do not work in China.
