What happens when a user goes offline forever

Have you ever wondered what will happen to your mail account, LiveJournal, blog, or one of the social networks when you are gone? Who will get access to your accounts, correspondence, personal data?

It turns out that there are already special services ( lastmessagesclub , assetlock ) that have access to the database of official bodies that record the fact that you are no longer there, i.e. thanks to them, no one can access unauthorized use of your personal information. They can also send the last message to your contacts.
Different services have a different attitude to this issue.

If you have a gmail account then your next of kin will be able to access it. To do this, they need to fax or email the following information to the Google office:

    1. Your full name and contact information, including a verified email address.
    2. Gmail address of the deceased user.
    3. The full title of the email sent to your verified email address from the Gmail account in question.
    4. Proof of death of the user.
    5. One of the following documents:
    a) if the deceased person was 18 years of age or older, provide official confirmation to the local laws that you are his legal representative
    b) if the deceased person was under the age of 18 and you are his parent, provide a copy of his birth certificate. More details here .

Do I need to delete accounts?
A moot point as for me. For example, there was a good blogger writing posts for himself and here - bam and there is none. But the blog remained, memory remained. On the other hand, in 5-10 years there will be thousands of free accounts that no one needs and will simply litter the information space.
For example, in mobile communications, if a subscriber has lost the card and has not used it for a year (two, three - depending on the policy of the mobile operator), then the number is blocked and after some time is re-issued. This preserves the numbering capacity. In the same LJ there is also a kind of cemetery

Do not think that I think about something bad). I love living, I just decided to share this thought with you.
