Does Microsoft patent the sudo system used on Unix?

The United States Patent and Trademark Office (U.S. Patent and Trademark Office) announced a Microsoft patent document number 7617530 , which describes how to run commands with administrator rights. The application caused a wave of indignation in the IT community.

Many, including the head of the Groklaw web portal, Pamela Jones, are convinced that the company simply renamed the sudo command on Unix systems. This technology was developed in the 80s of the 20th century by employees of the Buffalo Department of Computer Science. Microsoft just wants to earn revenue from licensed sudo technology on its operating systems.
