OEM nettop gets name and price tag

The first announcements of the ionic OEM nettop described and tested by me, which differs from its counterparts by the presence of a removable optical drive in the kit, were found on the tip of the DaemonI haberman .

Now his name is Onkyo P305, and he was announced as a Japanese stylish conceptual mini-PC.

    Specifications

The characteristics of the nettop, as I said, practically do not differ from the low-end Wexler VisION model:

    Processor: Intel Atom 230
Chipset: nVidia ION with gf9400m graphics
    RAM: 2Gb DDR2-800
    Hard disk: 160GB
Optional: SD card reader, eSATA port , mini-HDMI port, 5 USB 2.0 ports

    Details

Of course, a nettop is not made in Japan, and certainly not by Onkyo. The manufacturer of this nettop is the excellent Taiwanese company Pegatron, which also produces VisION. The differences in hardware between the two models are minimal, the P305 has 1 GB more memory, there is an eSATA port and mini-HDMI (we can hardly find any cables and adapters).

The modular optical drive can be replaced with a removable module with two hard drives, which are also connected via USB. It is not known whether the RAID module will support it, as long as the module has not left the Pegatron laboratory.

    Prices and Dates

Onkyo is about to start selling in March next year. The price of a nettop will fluctuate around $ 770 , but it seems to me that not for a minimal configuration. It would be strange to sell a nettop for $ 400 more expensive than competitors, only thanks to the presence of an optical drive.

Currently, nVidia is looking for strategic partners to distribute this model in Russia. So, we all have a chance, for the foreseeable future, to find it in Russian retail. Curious, at the same price as the Japanese, or not ...
