About piracy and ease of purchase

Man is a creature not prone to masochism. Of all the possible methods of action, a person chooses the simplest. Well, and accordingly, since a person wants to buy something, it is desirable that he does not encounter problems along the way.

Separate hopes for simplicity were pinned at the birth of e-commerce. Theorists of Internet marketing have long told us that in the era of digital technology, we will meet with virtually unlimited customization of everything and everything. You can select everything in the product, ranging from color to functions.

    Yes of course.
In fact, all these wonderful fairy tales degenerated into disc releases for Russia only, for example. No customization, eat what they give. As a result, the vaunted variety came to naught. But this is still half the problem.

Try to legally purchase in Russia, for example, a series about the unkind Dr. House. But in the quality you need and with the voice acting you need. For example, I love HD 720p, the original voice acting and Russian subtitles. Now decide to encourage the copyright holder. Happened? Of course not. Because there is no him, this release as such. It just does not exist in the "licensed" version.

I decided here to buy a disk of Rob Dugan. If someone is not in the know, this is the author of the longest piano theme from The Matrix. Original, rather “cinematic” music. I go to one store, I ask. As expected, large round eyes and "NO." In the other - joyfully - "there is!" Well, I think I can enjoy it now. If everything was so simple ... They brought a disk. Bob Dylan, yeah.

That is why for a substantial part of people the easiest way to obtain media content is by no means licensed. This is not because people are malicious freaks. And simply because otherwise it is simply impossible to get this content. Not “DIFFICULT”, not “EXPENSIVE”, but “IMPOSSIBLE”.

Piracy is so widespread because people CANNOT get a simple and convenient way to get licensed media content. Not “pirates, bastards, filled everything”, but “I can’t get it otherwise.” And do not say that "pirates are running ahead." Is it at the capacities of copyright holders and content producers that pirates are ahead of them? Not funny. If a group of enthusiasts is ahead of the corporation in their work, corporations should clean their own ranks. This is at least logical.

Are there any positive examples? More than. Steam, Apple Store, pricing policy for game manufacturers in Russia. Everywhere, where the acquisition is easy, it is quick and inexpensive. Indeed, in essence, the alternative is small for copyright holders. Either they themselves will sell their content cheaply (after all, honestly, copying on the Internet is ongoing), or they will copy it for FREE. And DRM is a temporary measure and carries more problems. Any DRM will be hacked. Especially if it interferes. And he always interferes.

Will people use all of these services? And where will they go! Most users do not know what torrent and p2p are. And if they know, they won’t want to bother (as I did not want to mess with eMule at the time, and with the iPhone unlocked this summer - why? And it works!). Therefore, the purchase path called “Click here! Just a dollar! ” will always go ahead of the way to get content like “install the program, then register on the tracker, then download the file, then keep the computer turned on (for rating)”.

And the monetization of content through fines - about which they wrote not so long ago - is already starting to raise many questions. And with the "Pirate Bay" is still not decided.
