Hello, Hawkers.
I think if it’s good to search in the habitat of any of us, then there is something that, in principle, is not necessary, but it is a pity to throw out. Well, for example, computer parts in a box. So for a very long time I was gathering dust with completely new car speakers , which I absolutely did not need.

But I really wanted to update my home computer acoustics.
The most common two-way speakers, no frills and freaks. Strict design and nameplate ... SONY.

So let's go! It all starts, of course, with the appearance. More precisely, with the idea of how all this should look. I drew sketches for a long time, presenting various options. I wanted to combine a unique design, versatility and convenience. In parallel, I looked at the CD rack in one furniture store . But more on that later.
The corps decided to look for a round shape. Such that the column perfectly "sat down" in it. Well, for example, this one))

A month or even two searches were successful. Found!!! Who guesses on the first try, as shown below?

Salad bowl! That is what was written on the price tag. In our case, all means are good, wrap two. Further I will call the Salad bowl the Case.

The appearance of the case turned out to be good. Solid wood, quite thick and strong. And, as it turned out later, voiced .
All these actions took place a long time ago, and then I assembled the speakers without the use of sound-absorbing materials and insulation. As a result, I got a mediocre sound with an echo and distortion. I decided to redo it just now.
The speakers need to "breathe." I made a round hole in the back of the case with a drill and a crown on wood. The place was cut later coated with matte varnish.

I decided to glue the inside of the column with soundproofing material. Plain fabric was enough. In the department of costume fabrics, he chose a dense two-layer fabric: 90% viscose, 10% polyester. It was interesting to go to sewing shops, I learned a lot of new things)) I

glued Titanium with glue. Here's what happened: front

and rear view .

It was already a “technical matter" to assemble, all the fixing bolts sat where they should be. It worked hard. The wire was brought out in advance through a hole made in the back.

The column is ready, it’s time to attach it to the rack, which I mentioned above.
Why fasten to a rack for disks, you ask? Everything is quite obvious. First, you need some kind of stand so that the speakers are at the level of the head. Secondly, why not combine the stand with a suitable height rack for discs?
The mount turned out to be tortured, but graceful. For two days I was racking my brains, how, without prejudice to appearance, to pin a metal rod to a tree. Due to the expansion, the column is tightly pressed against the metal base.

The speakers are passive, and in order to unleash them, you need an amp. Anyone, even the one used in computer acoustics 2.1, will do. It is also desirable to have a subwoofer for outputting low frequencies.
Below are some photos in the interior.

After modernization with gluing, the sound became much more pleasant and cleaner. It is noticeable, so to speak, with the naked ear.
However, I believe that in terms of sound quality, the resulting system can compete only with similar computer acoustics, and the total price of the entire event cannot be called a small language. However, there are two important points for which everything was started. Unique design (+ storage of your favorite discs) and an incomparable feeling from the do-it-yourself :)
