The share of netbooks in the laptop market reached 20%

    According to preliminary DisplaySearch data, in the first quarter of 2009, 5.9 million netbooks were delivered worldwide, and their mass share in the laptop market grew to 20%. The market leader in the number of netbooks delivered is confidently held by Acer, which accounts for 30.5% of all devices delivered to the market - almost twice as much as that of its closest competitor, ASUS. HP remains the leader in the full-size notebook segment, with a market share of 24.1% or 7.3 million units.

    Most netbooks (45%) ship to EMEA and Latin America, followed by China, Japan, and North America. This is what the market looks like in the first three months of 2009:
