On April 24, Microsoft finally released the long-awaited Service Pack 2 for Microsoft Office 2007. Basically, the package includes bug fixes and “increased speed and stability,” but there are also new features:
    1. Support for ODF (OpenDocument Format)
    2. Native support for the Save As PDF / XPS command.
Native support for ODF format in Word, Excel and PowerPoint has become the main innovation of MS Office 2007 SP2. Office 2007 users can now open, edit, and save documents in OpenDocument Text (* .odt) text format, OpenDocument Spreadsheet (* .ods) spreadsheet format, and OpenDocument Presentations (* .odp) presentation format.

In addition to the built-in support for new file formats, SP2 for MS Office 2007 provides users with many other advantages. In particular, the response speed to user actions in the Outlook package is increased, calendar updates in Outlook are more predictable. Also, the accuracy of data retrieval in Office 2007 documents and databases has been improved, and the Outlook package has additional features for working with RSS feeds. Office 2007 SP2 developers also reported improved data display quality when saving documents in .pdf (Portable Document Format) and .xps (XML Paper Specification) formats. Re-saving files in PowerPoint 2007 is now much faster.

References:PS SP2 I installed automatically through Windows Update. The flight is normal. Although there are still some “bugs”: for some reason, during the installation, associations for OpenDocument files (odt, ods, odp) were not automatically registered, Office Live Workspace does not preview new formats, styles are not saved in odt.
