Does Google implement Orion?

Yesterday, Google announced two innovations in search results.

Firstly, now extended snippets are issued if the search query consists of three or more words. In theory, enlarged snippets give a more complete impression of the document found.

Another, more important innovation is based on the search engine Orion, which Google bought three years ago , and at the same time hired the author of the algorithm, an Israeli student, Ori Alon. Obviously, in three years he brought his invention to mind. The Orion algorithm is able to perform an “expert” search and find thematically related pages, even if they do not contain the text of the search query.

At Google, the idea of Orion was implemented as options for refining search queries. The user is invited to a number of other search queries that are thematically close to what he was looking for (for example, [Robespierre], [Napoleon], [American Revolution], etc. are offered for [French Revolution]). These options are usually located at the bottom of the search page. Apparently, the system doesn’t care what language the request was made in, Orion works fine both in Russian and 36 more languages.
