I registered the HomeLab.ru domain a few years ago, for a project that provides hosting sites with free access inside Zelenograd computer networks, and with a minimum exit fee.
It was planned to park user domains or get third-level names on our domains for free.
One of these names was HomeLab.ru.
However, during the development of the project, one aggressive company enslaved all Zelenograd nets. Brought a cheap unlimited and closed all internal resources. Home servers with direct IPs are also in doubt.
The project changed its orientation, and HomeLab.ru remained idle.
Not so long ago, a young man wrote to me asking about the possibility of buying a domain. I was wary of the proposal. I didn’t want to sell the name (which means something personal to me) so that it would be sold at exorbitant prices at auction. However, a little later they showed me the project for which the domain was searched.
With a light heart, I entered into a gentleman's agreement under which I gave his name for free, leaving in my hands dns'y and the possibility of unlimited registration of third-level domains with a resource directory - cat.homelab.ru .
On HomaLab.ru itself, a project, absolutely crazy in my opinion, is now working. You can check it out if you are interested in how to make a "stink bomb from hair, sparklers and such and such a mother" or something like that.
I think this is a good example of cooperation. Anyway, I didn’t have any ideas for a super-duper project for the HomeLab.ru title, and putting it all under the catalog and information about the service is not as fun as such a cool neighborhood :)
I understand that the time of third-level domains is rapidly running out (if it’s not already gone), but there may certainly be projects for which it is impractical to maintain a second-level domain. Often, these may be just such niche resources as HomLaby. Such a domain is suitable for any site dedicated to handmade, creativity. Any freelancer or single hairdresser is the owner of his home lab.
On cat.homelab.ruIt is indicated how to contact me, habropost is also suitable. I will provide you with a domain name and a gmail-based mailbox for free. You can screw your hosting, you can redirect to any other name.
An address like blackbox.homelab.ru can be a good option for an ftp server if you are hesitant to give out all the IP. (not for hosting child pornography)
