
Caring for users from Nokia's point of view
It's no secret, I have been a fan of Nokia smartphones for quite some time. Everything suits me in them and it’s a pleasure to use them;) But recently, I came across the following unpleasant situation, which I want to tell you about in a nutshell:
In December 2008, the wonderful Nokia 5800 XM was gifted with my Beloved . Knowing that the first firmware on smartphones at Nokia was often buggy, they were immediately ready for troubles in its use - moreover, it was pleasant that we were already aware of most of them (and practically nothing came out, thank God). The data was successfully transferred from the previous device to this, after the smartphone they began to use as usual, without really installing additional software on it (so as not to reinstall it later) - waiting for a fresh firmware. The firmware was on the phone - the tenth (the first in the release for Russia).
And now, there is information about the appearance of the 11th firmware . Class, I think, we’re her ... Horseradish! NSU sniffs quietly in the corner and does not answer questions, the “over the air” (FOTA) update also smokes bamboo. Considering that I do not suffer from insanity yet, we started to find out what was the matter and it turned out that for our smart with product code 0574888 - there is no firmware , but for " not ours " with 0559245 - there is! Moreover, both models are “white” (with certificates and te.pe). Okay, I think, this is not the first time that Nokia has used different product codes for the same models - maybe it didn’t update the firmware on their server. We will wait until they update ...
Then somehow I started working around - I did not check the firmware output. And now, yesterday, I find out that the 20th firmware has already been released , moreover, it is available for "Russian" models! Yes, and so many goodies in nui ... WOW, I think, WRONG - we’ll update our beloved friend now ... You won’t believe it - AGAIN Bummer;) Here the suspicion has grown into confidence that our smart with product code 0574888 was simply “forgotten” for some reason, include in the list of updatable. A sample survey again confirmed my fears - devices with 0559245and 0559950 perfectly updated to the twentieth. True, the comrade with 0559950 lost the Russian language after the firmware, although he claims that the body is absolutely legal and donated to him by Nokia itself. Miracles, and only - this is all strange.
But cynically, this is not what interests me in the first place (sorry;)) - I wonder why our device is not being updated. And today at 11:30 I make a phone call directly to the head of an unfortunate Nokia Care support girl . Why miserable, you ask? Yes, because she was already frankly embarrassed by people like me with the same questions, " but Minya’s Pachim is not from Shia, but from Vasya, from the front door of the congress - Shiazza ." As a result of a short dialogue, I learned the following:
And cho, famously, Nokia threw a third (three product codes highlighted) of its Russian users. I want to understand - why should I get into the SC if there is a wonderful home update service in a relaxed atmosphere while drinking piffko? I also want to understand why, as an honest user who bought a “white” device and overpaid for this, the Nth number of thousand rubles is discriminated against with respect to “gray” import devices and some other honest users?
If a Nokia blog monitoring representative notes this scribble of mine, I really want to hear a comment. Especially considering that the current crisis is necessary (somehow) to hold on to our client base (current and potential). Anticipating some questions, I’ll say right away: if the girl from Nokia Care I would correctly answer all my questions and would be ready to explain to me why I should “still wait” for my firmware - this post simply would not exist. But slurred arguments in the style of " I don’t know " from an official representative of the company - this is already too much!
PS: I don’t mind if you wholly or by reference distribute this message to mobile conferences and communities dedicated to Nokia in general and the 5800 model in particular - the maximum number of people should find out that Nokia does not care so much about its users as before and is ready “Throw” them at their inarticulate whims or “forgetfulness” of some specialists there. 2. It is recommended to roll into the SC and update there (yeah, go, stand in line, wait a week ...)
3 . To make them (Nokia) nothing in slia - I quote: " probably our technical experts for some reason [!] Did not include your product code in the upcoming update " (yopta, why is this ???)
