TV "movie" format

Philips recently unveiled its latest development, the world's first 21: 9 aspect ratio LCD TV. This screen format, identical to the screen format in movie theaters, will allow you to watch movies without black bars at the top and bottom.

Philips TV Philips Cinema 21: 9 corresponds to the format of the film on which films are shot - 2.39: 1. And this, accordingly, will allow you to watch movies, in contrast to the current 16: 9, in the "bandless" version.

Now about the TV itself. This is a 56-inch handsome who, like all Philips TVs, is equipped with their fashionable Ambilight Spectra backlight and the proprietary Perfect Pixel HD Engine image processor. Resolution Philips Cinema 21: 9 is 2560x1080 pixels. The device has HDMI ports, a Wi-Fi module and a connector for connecting to a local network.

Philips Cinema 21: 9 will go on sale worldwide in the spring of 2009. A Russian sale will begin in June. It will cost $ 4300. I would say a little expensive. The pleasure is dubious: TV shows on it will look even worse than on the usual LCD shkas with an aspect ratio of 16: 9. So this TV is exclusively for a separate room equipped with a home theater. Here it should be very out of place.
