Internet Explorer 8 and Windows 7 together

I installed Windows 7 Beta1 and it even has a version of Internet Explorer 8 that is later than August beta2. It has a large number of bugs fixed in comparison with IE8b2, as well as new User Interface features specific for Windows 7 applications. I want to talk about today the two most enjoyable ones.

The first is a preview of the browser windows and even all the tabs right in the task bar. We hover over the IE8 icon and immediately see a preview of all IE windows and all tabs in all windows. Like in the picture below:

At the same time, “leading” the mouse over the thumbnails, we will switch between the windows / tabs of the browser. On which we want to stop (in which we want to switch) - there and click the mouse. Very comfortably. And most importantly, it will work for all Windows 7 users without the need to install anything extra.

The second feature is called IE Jump List, or, if you want, in Russian it will probably be a “quick jump list” or something like that. It works like this: even if IE8 is not running, move the cursor over its icon on the taskbar and press the right mouse button or drag the icon with the cursor up. A list of the most frequently visited pages will appear, from which you can choose what you want. Then we click on the desired link and the browser will start already with the task to open this particular page. Here's what it looks like:

It is also very cool in terms of usability and simplification of the computer use by the most inexperienced users. But these are precisely the “new” people who come to the Internet, for whom the computer is new to the world.

These two new features of IE8 on Windows 7 seemed to me the most striking, and you can read about the new features still available in this configuration on the IE8 team blog here . Actually, including this is an example of what new features your desktop applications for Windows 7 may have.
