Skype 2.8 Beta for Mac OS X

Although the version numbering of Skype for Mac is behind the version for Windows, some features for Mac appear earlier. Today, Skype released a new beta of its application for Mac OS X (numbered 2.8), which implements two new features that are not yet available to users of the Windows version:
    • Screen sharing
    • Skype Access
Screen Sharing allows you to display the current desktop view instead of the image from the webcam in the video chat window. Thus, you can use Skype for impromptu screen casts or presentations, well, and in any other situation, when it’s easier for you to show something than to tell.

Skype Access- This is a function implemented in conjunction with Boingo, an international network of over 100,000 Wi-Fi hotspots worldwide, and is especially useful for travelers. Skype Access will allow Skype users to use their account to authorize and pay for Internet access through Boingo access points. On the one hand, this method will simplify the procedure for connecting and paying (you won’t need to register, enter your card details, etc.), and on the other hand, it will make it possible to use Boingo’s Wi-Fi access for several minutes without having to buy a watch or longer session.

In addition, the new beta version has improved sound and video quality, and some less significant changes to the interface.
