
Methodologies or models?
As the survey shows , most teams prefer to use their own methodologies than to take something ready-made.
Why is that?
Despite the fact that they say both about XP and Scrum that they “can be used as is, out of the box” - in reality this is not the case, and for the effective use of flexible methodologies they need to be adjusted for a long time to the conditions prevailing in the organization, under project features, etc. Since all flexible methodologies have much more similarities than differences, it is often difficult to determine what exactly is used here? :)
Thus, it would be more correct to talk not about a specific methodology, but about the main models - flexible, iterative, spiral, waterfalls. Of these 4 obvious leaders, flexible and iterative models will be, moreover flexible ones are more suitable for small and iterative models for larger projects.
