Leaky Ecofont Saves Paint

EcofontThe Ecofont font is the birth of the mind of a person named Colin Willems, working for the Dutch company SPRANQ .

The main difference between the Ecofont font and all the others is the small unpainted circles placed inside each letter with one single purpose: to reduce the total amount of toner / ink used by the printer when printing documents. Let's face it - the implementation is simple to impossibility, but perhaps just for this reason a similar font appeared only now.

How much character can be removed, provided that the readability of the text is preserved? After many tests with different shapes, Spranq came up with the conclusion that it is best to use small circles, and after several tests it was found that the printer uses 20% less ink - an excellent anti-crisis solution for the corporate sector.

And although the creators of the font do not set as its goal its popularization, most likely those who liked the idea would turn their attention to it. For printing large volumes of products (as in publishing), savings of this kind are likely to find application.

A positive point from the font description: “The Ecofont is distributed under GPL ...”
