Why won't Apple make its OS freely available as Windows?
I constantly ask myself this question when news comes up about someone hacking MacOS that Apple has sued pseudo Macs, etc.
Therefore, I would like to discuss this topic.
After all, Apple would only benefit from this, because many would buy, download and install Mac OS and work with it.
What prevents Apple from doing this? Is it really just marketing goals (an elite product should not be available to the majority) or something completely different?
UPD
What about MAC OS X Leopard Server? Is it put only on Mack's iron?
Here:
System Requirements
Mac server or desktop computer with an Intel, PowerPC G5, or PowerPC G4 (867MHz or faster) processor; 1GB of physical RAM; 20GB of available disk space.
