IPhone ads banned in the UK

The UK Advertising Standards Bureau filmed a video advertising the iPhone 3G (under habrakat) from a television broadcast . The reason for considering the case was the numerous complaints received from viewers. They claimed that the advertisement was not true. Bureau experts conducted an examination and admitted that the information in the advertisement is in fact false.

In particular, in advertising, it is repeated several times that the new iPhone 3G works “very fast”, while the frame showed how the pages of news sites and Google Maps load in less than a second.

Apple was trying to justify itself by ostensibly comparing the speed of the iPhone 3G with the previous version of the iPhone, and the claims about speed are relative, not absolute. In addition, there was a text on the screen that "Speed depends on signal quality."

However, the Bureau concluded: Apple’s ad “creates the false impression that the device’s speed in advertising is close to its actual speed”, although this is far from the case.

The video was taken off the air, and Apple is prohibited from releasing new ads of the same kind. And this despite the fact that in the United States and other countries this video is constantly shown on different TV channels without any problems.

Interestingly, this is not the first time that Apple has been touted illegally and its ads are being aired in the UK. The same story happened with the first version of the iPhone.
