5 Gb / s - USB 3.0

On November 17, the final version of the specification for the new high-speed data transfer standard SuperSpeed USB (USB 3.0) will be presented. According to CNet, this will happen at the SuperSpeed USB Developers Conference, which will be held in San Jose, California.

According to the specification, the data transfer speed via USB 3.0 will exceed the performance of the familiar USB 2.0 by about 10 times, i.e. will reach 5 Gbps.

Despite the fact that the size of the USB 3.0 connector is slightly different from the USB 2.0 connectors, compatibility with the previous version of the interface will still be preserved.

The USB 3.0 specification was supported by such large companies as Hewlett-Packard, Intel, NEC, NXP Semiconductors, Microsoft and others. Serial products with support for USB 3.0 should appear on sale in 2009.
