DrToller.com - Social Search Engine
For quite some time now I had the idea of implementing a social search engine with the ability to find people who are looking for the same thing as me. Yes, everyone somehow did not reach their hands. But given the principle of Donald Trump that "There is nothing more criminal for financial well-being than to come up with a great idea and not bother to implement it," we decided to do at least something. In time, it took a week and that's what happened .
Where do we get the information from?
We parse the first three pages of the search results of eight search engines: altavista.com , aport.ru , gogo.ru , google.ru , msn.com , rambler.ru , yahoo.com , yandex.ru.
How is information aggregated?
In our results, the result is higher, the more it is present in more search engines. In addition, a registered user can vote for a “good” result and then the rating will be higher.
Why register?
So that your requests are stored in the database, so that you can find like-minded people who are looking for the same thing and chat with them.
What is “social” in our service?
Users can be added as friends. And then a friends search query feed appears. The user can also write a personal message.
And if I do not want someone to know what I'm looking for?
Each request has three levels of privacy: it is visible to everyone (i.e. everyone sees that I was looking for IT), is visible only to friends and is not visible to anyone. Well, you can erase your request from the history of your requests.
Why do I need a request page?
You can leave a comment under each request. We hope that users will leave links to resources that are not included in our results. By the way, there is an RSS subscription to comments.
And why is everything so slow?
We apologize to the users. We do not have our own dedicated server. If the service will be popular, then of course we’ll get our own server and maybe not just one;)
Why, then, a second search is faster?
The results are stored in the database and then we do not turn to search engines.
With horror, we expect a habraeffect, your drtoller , derbov , @saratovdae.
