Wi-Fi Amplifier

Company Quantenna Communications presented its solution to the problem of uneven distribution and coverage Wi-Fi signal attenuation due to various obstacles - a new family of chips QHS (Quantenna High Speed) . These are small chips with "amplification" of the signal, which in principle, among other things, should "suppress" interference from third-party devices operating in the 2.4 or 5 GHz bands.

Quantenna is going to release three varieties of chips. Separately for the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands, as well as dual-band. They will not cost so much. $ 20 - single-band and $ 40 - combined. The developers claim that their chips supporting 4x4 MIMO and capable of providing data transfer rates of up to 1 Gbit per second may be of interest to many large companies, such as Dell or Apple, which are actively developing a set of services available via wireless networks. The company also reports that it has already managed to conclude agreements on the use of their products with several providers.

Ready-made devices will appear on the market by mid-2009.

Perhaps, Quantenna products will also be of interest to Russian providers. No wonder - in Moscow this market is developing very fast. To date, in the capital, according to research by the J'son & Partners analytic company , 16046 access points operate, which is 90% of the total number of access points in Russia.

So market leaders such as Beeline Wi-Fi, MTS (Taskom and Comstar-UTS), the Yandex Wi-Fi project and Stelcom will only benefit from the use of “expanders”. Because this will cover a larger area using fewer access points.
