This music will live forever
Good afternoon!
I want to talk a little about music, what is it for us? - For teens, this is a whole cult, for some it’s just a backdrop, for some, a way to break away in dance. Music even represents entire countries in the form of hymns. Music is a part of our life.
It can be different - a lot of styles, trends and genres, but I want to talk about such a trend as the soundtrack, or rather the soundtrack to the game. Of course, I didn’t play all games, to be honest - I’m not playing much recently, that’s why my post will cover only what I heard and what made a powerful impression on me.
I work as a programmer with designer elements, but also in my free time (if I’m not busy with anything) - I participate in variousfreelanceprojects. What does it matter? - And almost the most direct - I like to work to music, and this is what I will highlight among others (I remind you, I talk about soundtracks from games, so radio and various groups do not count), my top 3:
1) It all started back in 1997, I was still at school, and here, like everyone else, the happy owners of a personal computer exchanged disks with toys, as a rule they were pirated collections. Then there was still the program “From the Screw!” - I saw an overview of the second part of my favorite Quake - I froze and was upset - the computer will not pull. And a month or two later, a friend offered me a Q2 disc - the English version - “on, they say, play, it doesn’t even start with me”. It started for me, but at the minimum settings. I played it for several hours a day, then my “sitting in front of the computer until 3 in the morning” began - I became a fan. And when I found out that you can play "over the network" ... However, this is another story :-)
I found that the music in the game is just super. I recorded it on a player (cassette) and listened to it on the subway. The music that I listen to this day. I still love and she is part of my "golden collection", the author of the great music Sonic Mayhem. Quake 2 is number 1 of my soundtracks!
2) The Cold War, the USSR against the USA is an eternal topic, there are millions of games for this scenario, of different genres. But one of them has been loved by me since childhood, when there were no World In Conflict and other modern hits. I'm talking about Red Alert (1996 game)! I went along and across and realized - yes! this is great! Of course, I preferred the Soviet troops. The soundtrack there is just a fairy tale, from the great and terrible - Frank Klepacki, when he plays the immortal hit Hell March - as much blood freezes in his veins! Surely heard? - Here I am listening to this day.
3) I don’t particularly like racing, driving on the highway for a while - thank you! I am personally bored. In addition, when I was a gamer, there were no such beautiful games as the last parts of the NFS or TestDrive (I recently saw screenshots and thought why it hadn’t happened before!). But I still liked one game, not just a race, but the cars were there, and people had to be crushed in order to add a few sweet seconds - everyone already guessed - this is Carmageddon (but only 1 part!). He loved at one time, played for hours on end, you know - addictive :-) And the music! Mmm ... I love it! This is an instrumental album from Fear Factory. Powerful industrial.
So, my TOP:
1) Quake 2
2) Red Alert
3) Carmageddon
These hits will be forever recorded in my player

I talked about my personal TOP 3, but I can not help but mention such powerful soundtracks as:
The Mario Brothers (damn, this is the anthem of the old school gamer). The music from the once very popular quest Neverhood is also good, albeit for an amateur. Also, the sound from Destruction Derby destroying thrash racing deserves respect. The last track is their Max Payne. In StarCraft, Diablo, Silent Hill - there were good tracks. And many, many others, I don’t take separate compositions in games, I consider - the whole sound of the game - so that it can be uploaded to the player and enjoy on the go, or work under it, as I do (although I repeat: I listen to the radio too ) As you saw - I was looking at old toys, but time-tested, music that has been with me for a dozen years.
I hope you enjoyed my post. I hope you smiled and said: “Yes, I remember - something cool played there,” I hope you have a good nostalgia. And I ask you, dear habra-people - if not difficult - share with me what kind of music from computer games you like.
UPD Thanks to everyone who expressed their opinion and shared their top, found a lot of interesting music that I had not heard about before. Thanks!
