Why I do not cut banners

One gets the feeling that banner cutting is gradually becoming the norm for many users.

I do not use banner cutting in principle.

We will answer the question - which banners are usually cut: specific banners on a particular site, or “characteristic” banners.

I'll start with the second. Often, although it ’s not always the case, with the words banner or numbers 468x60, civilized banners are displayed in the title: they occupy their rightful place on the site, do not pretend to spoil the entire window, block content until the banner is closed, and so on. Those. these are the banners that are not so annoying to the user.

On the other hand, there are specific banners on a particular site that we often visit. A sense of justice comes into play. If I like the site, my conscience will not allow me to deceive the owner and cut down his banners. It's like going to a circus without a ticket.

What can I do as a site owner to show people banner ads? Make advertising so that it does not interfere with viewing the site. Finally, I’ll give my opinion on what a civilized banner should be like if, due to circumstances, text ads do not roll.

    1. Standard (generally accepted) size. Especially if the banner is “exported”.
    2. A minimum of sharp animation.
    3. Calm colors. (i.e. without # 00ff00 and the like).
    4. Light weight. (I try to fit in 20 kilobytes)
    5. Compliance of the banner with the content of the site to which it leads.

From experience I can say that they click on such banners. Moreover, the quality of visitors is quite high.
